Journey
FIRST STEPS INTO MUSIC
Abhishek Singh Chouhan was introduced to music duing his first peformance in school. There was an event in school and teachers were looking for one more kid who could sing. So, Abhishek appeared for an audition for the same, and he was selected to sing for the group song. That was the beginning of his musical journey, singing in a chorus song along with Harmonium, and Tabla.
His music teacher, Shri Dinesh Bhatt, in school met with his parents and suggested him to learn singing, formally, as he sang well. And, he and his sister joined a formal music class, where they learned to sing the seven notes for an entire year, to get the perfect Sur. Gradually, he learnt to sing raga Yaman, Bilawal, and other ragas.
TRAINING IN HINDUSTANI VOCAL CLASSICAL AND MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS
Abhishek started participating in other cultural activities in school as well. Meanwhile, his marks in school dropped from 97% to 92%, and his music classes were stopped because of that. Then, Dinesh Ji came to his home to ask to his parents, and came to know about the academics performance drop, he assured parents of Abhishek that he would perform well. Dinesh Ji didn’t take fees, and took the responsibility for Abhishek to perform well in academics. Now, by the time Abhishek was 10 years old, his father got him a small keyboard to play music on, and requested a well-known keyboard artist Prabhakar Sharma, to teach Abhishek how to play it properly. After two years of training in the basic keyboard, Abhishek got a bigger keyboard, to be able to perform and accompany for music shows in various local events.
Abhishek Chouhan completed his Sangeet Visharad, from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad, while also completing his graduation in B.Com and his post graduation in HR & Marketing. He started working as a Lecturer in a college, so, he would get a lot of holidays. During this time, he met with a friend who was working in the Mumbai music industry. So, Abhishek went to Mumbai, to meet with talented musicians. He and his friend got some projects, and Abhishek started his first commercial work as a “music arranger”. He later learned all about music production, eventually, on his own. And in 2020, Abhishek started his YouTube channel “Mid Town Music“, dedicated to write, produce and release original songs.
EMBRACING THE PROFESSIONAL MUSIC WORLD
To set the context right, it is noteworthy to mention that during his school days, Abhishek had appeared for various auditions in local talent hunt events, and that is how he started thinking about how a song is created.
